John and Valerie Telford are founder members of King's Community Church and John served as an elder for many years.
He and Valerie have been going to stay at Valerie's brother's apartment on the Costa del Sol for about seven years. Four years ago they spotted a cross outside a building in the marina town of Puerto Banus, near Marbella - about five minutes' drive along the coast.

The church is called The Wave, not surprisingly as it is about 50 yards from the sea, and is the only Christian church in the town. The Pastor is Kurt Kettner-Borough, an American, who attended Bible College in South Africa. Melanie, his wife, was born in Kenya, but grew up in South Africa, where they met. They pastored a church in San Diego, and were later called to Spain, where they led two churches before starting The Wave about 5 years ago. They have two children, Kyle and Lauren.

Valerie and John have been helping the church when they visit, and brought Kurt and Melanie to the UK in 2013 to introduce them to the Newfrontiers family of churches.

The Wave has grown and now has attendances of around 60 on Sundays, mainly made up of ex-pats, but with a few local Spanish people, and many holiday visitors. Services can be bi-lingual if necessary. There is a wider group of prayer and giving supporters in England, Wales, Northern Ireland, the US and Australia - who visit from time to time.

The Wave meets every Sunday, has an outreach on Wednesdays (The Wave Café), a mid-week group, and prayer on Fridays. Other outreach activities are held regularly, eg. The Wave Music Café, and Kurt and Melanie host ‘The Living Room’ every Friday evening on Revelation TV (Church without Walls). Find out more about The Wave at:

Please pray that the Church will continue to grow, and make more inroads into the Spanish community.
