DAVID AND JACKY RIGBY
David has been involved in full-time Christian ministry for more than 25 years, having previously worked as an economist. Prior to coming to Hatfield, he led the Newfrontiers church in Brentwood for ten years. David and Jacky married in 1970, and have four grown up children and four grandchildren - so far!
TWO MINUTES WITH...
What are your main responsibilities within KCC?
David: Preaching, worship, students and overseas visits and connections.
Jacky: Being part of the admin team working in the KCC office, organising socials, leading a community group with David and helping with ladies meetings.
How long have you been a part of KCC?
Since 2002
How did you become a Christian?
David: As a response to God at a Christian boys camp in Shanklin, Isle of Wight
Jacky: At Sunday School when I was about ten years old. We sang 'Into my heart, come into my heart Lord Jesus' and I knew that I meant what I was singing.
How long have you been a Christian?
David: Since I went to that camp when I was 11 years old
Jacky: Many years! Since 1958
What do you do to relax?
David: Spend time with Jacky, model railways, walk, play the guitar
Jacky: Read books, do Sudoku puzzles, have a bath with glass of wine!
What is your earliest childhood memory?
David: Watching the bonfire night fireworks from my bedroom window sill, I think
Jacky: Visiting an elderly and distant relative who was dipping bread in her cup of tea
What is your ideal holiday destination?
David: South Africa, closely followed by the Lake District and the States
Jacky: I love South Africa and also one particular bit of North Cornwall
What is your favourite film?
David: Difficult....'Much Ado About Nothing', 'Sleepless in Seattle'? More into TV series really,
and then it's 'The West Wing' - head and shoulders
Jacky: Don't really have a favourite film, maybe 'Much Ado About Nothing'.
What is your favourite takeaway?
David: Indian, by miles
Jacky: Depends how I feel at the time - it might sometimes even be McDonalds.
